The Mass Save Program

Mass Save is paving the path to a carbon-neutral future by making Massachusetts homes and businesses more energy-efficient. As part of this mission, there are many ways homeowners can save significant money with available rebates for highly energy-efficient heating and cooling systems like heat pumps.

At Ecco Air Solutions, we’re proud to be a Mass Save Heat Pump Installer Network member. We can help you save thousands of dollars on a new heat pump to keep your home at the perfect temperature all year.

The Mass Save program offers various incentives and services to help homeowners in Massachusetts improve energy efficiency and reduce energy costs. The specific requirements and offerings can vary, but here are the general steps and requirements for homeowners to participate in the Mass Save program:

Eligibility
Location: The home must be located in Massachusetts.
Utility Providers: Homeowners must be customers of participating Mass Save sponsors, which include electric and gas utilities such as Eversource, National Grid, Unitil, and Cape Light Compact.
Building Type: Typically, single-family homes, multi-family homes (up to four units), and certain types of multi-unit buildings are eligible.

Home Energy Assessment Scheduling:
Homeowners must schedule a no-cost Home Energy Assessment (HEA) through Mass Save. This assessment is performed by a trained energy specialist.
Assessment Details: During the assessment, the specialist will evaluate the home’s current energy use, identify opportunities for savings, and provide personalized recommendations. This includes checking insulation levels, heating and cooling systems, lighting, appliances, and more.

Recommendations and Upgrades Report:
After the assessment, homeowners receive a detailed report outlining recommended energy efficiency improvements.
Incentives and Rebates: Based on the recommendations, homeowners may qualify for various incentives, such as:
Insulation and Air Sealing: Significant rebates and incentives to improve insulation and seal air leaks.
Heating and Cooling Equipment: Rebates for installing energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, including heat pumps.
Water Heaters: Incentives for high-efficiency water heaters.
Lighting and Appliances: Discounts and rebates on ENERGY STAR® certified products.

Implementation Contractors:
Homeowners may need to use contractors approved by Mass Save to perform certain upgrades to qualify for rebates.
Verification: Some measures may require verification by Mass Save before incentives are granted.

Financing
HEAT Loan Program: Homeowners can apply for a HEAT Loan, which provides 0% interest financing for eligible energy efficiency upgrades. This loan can cover costs for insulation, heating and cooling systems, water heaters, and other improvements.

Additional Programs
Weatherization Services
:
For income-eligible households, additional weatherization services may be available.
Renewable Energy: Incentives and support for renewable energy installations, like solar panels, may also be provided.
